The design concept for Signal's exterior came from that of a loud-hailer. In order to establish that channel of communication with customers, Modgen was anxious to understand their needs. With such a philosophy, the Modgen team hence designed the "link" series of chandeliers. At the same time, the product links Modgen with the customer. Signal 3/5 is an extension of the Signal concept.

The body of the lamp is made of aluminium alloy die-casting, and utilises the dominant design of teardrop-shape curves. The lampshade is made using clear transparent acrylic. The arm of the lamp is formed from aluminium extrusions, and adopts a sliding type structure design to allow the better flexibility for the lamp in terms of space use.
